A Very Sad Death. Of An Estimable Young Mother in the Prime of Life.
We regret to announce the death on March second, of Alice M. Caldwell and daughter of Mr and Mrs William Reynolds of Maeser. Mrs. Caldwell had been sick but two weeks following the birth of a little girl. She was conscious to the last, and those who were present said her death was a wonderful example of perfect resignation. A lingering on the threshold of the infinite while she spoke words of loving remembrance to her family and friends. None were forgotten, and when begged to reserve her strength she said "No, I want to speak while I may."
It is said that Mrs. Caldwell never recovered from the shock caused by the death of a little son a year ago, and that continued grief made her less able to resist disease. Mrs. Caldwell was 29 years old. She was called and fulfilled a mission to Georgia while still a young girl, and on her release, met and married her fiance Lorin Caldwell of this valley in Salt Lake City five years ago. At one time she was compositor on the Vernal Express and was a valued and efficient employee. For the last three years she had been postmistress in Roosevelt, and filled that position with credit to herself and satisfaction to the patrons of the office. Mrs. Caldwell's friends were numberless and her loss is a personal grief to them as well as to the grief stricken husband and family, who have the sympathy of the entire community. The funeral was held this afternoon.
Mrs. Lorin Caldwell passed away at her home in Maeser on Wednesday. Mrs. Caldwell was Miss Alice Reynolds, daughter of Mr and Mrs Wm. Reynolds. She gave birth to a baby girl on the 15th of February. Blood poisoning set in and she passed away as above stated. Much sorrow is felt for her husband and father and mother and brother and sisters. Mrs. Caldwell was a very affectionate woman and was well liked by all.
