NELS ANDERSON DIES IN PORTAGE TOWNSHIP HOME

Garyton, Feb. 27--Nels Anderson, 88, of Portage township, died in his house Sunday noon following a lingering illness.
The decedent was born in Sweden and came to the United States at the age of 19. Before coming to Portage township in 1902, he had resided in Minnesota and Chicago.
For 23 years he was engaged in farming in Portage township and later served as engineer at the Garyton school, He retired from this post in 1939 when his health failed.
Surviving are the widow Amanda; one daughter, Mrs. Edith A. Keammerer, of Portage township; three sons, Elmer, Walter and Lawrence of Portage township; one sister, Mrs. Alfreida Youngberg, Duluth, Minn.; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
He was a member of the Mission Covenant church of Garyton.
Memorial services will be held Wednesday at the Pflughoeft funeral home in Hobart, with the Rev. Harley S. Murphy, of the Mission Covenant Church, Garyton, officiating. Burial will be in Calvary cemetery, Garyton.
