Dorothy Stanton was born about 1651 to Thomas Stanton and Anna Lord. She married Rev. James Noyes II on 11 Sep 1674 in Stonington, New London, Connecticut. They had 7 children- Dorothy, Dr. James II, Captain Thomas, Anne, Deacon John, Rev. Joseph and Moses. After her husband died, she lived with her son, Thomas, on the home farm.
