Professional Football Player. Born in Chicago and raised in Evanston, Illinois, he played collegiate football at the University of Notre Dame where he was a member of three National College Football Champion teams (1946, 1947 and 1949) with the Fighting Irish. He played at the halfback position for two seasons (1950, 1953) in the National Football League with the Green Bay Packers and Baltimore Colts. Coutre was selected in the 4th round of the 1950 NFL Draft and appeared in 22 career games. After retiring from football, Coutre worked as an agent with the FBI.
