He was married twice, first to Harriet Shaver; 4 children were born to them. His first wife died and he married Sarah Dixon and they had 9 children.
9 children are living: John, Porter, Billy, Burton, George and Mrs Lee Elmore, near Mayland; Clinton, Crossville; Mrs Verna Ashburn, Ravenscroft; Bob, Ohio; and 4 children dead; 47 grandchildren; 98 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren. He lived a straight and honest life and was liked by all who knew him.
The funeral was at the home of his son, Burton, where he had made his home since his wife's death. Burial was at Pugh cemetery December 24 at 3 p.m.
