Alexander Miles was the second son of Jesse Birdsong and Elizabeth Grasty. His grandfather was Major John Birdsong and is proved record in the American Revolution.
Alexander moved with his birth family in 1806 to Livingston County, Kentucky when he was about 6 years old. His fathers family appeared on the 1810 tax records on Caldwell County, Kentucky. Alexander was 10 years old and in his fathers's household. Caldwell was formed out of Livingston in 1809.
An article from a County History traces the move of Alexander from Fayette County, Tennessee to Hunt County, Texas in 1840. Though the article states that the two families were Kentuckians, Alexander was born in South Carolina before his father, Jesse,,, moved to Kentucky. His wife Mariam, was born in Newberry South Carolina. They moved to Kentucky at an early age.
