Charles L. Flowers, 60, of 2709 Soyer St., Parkersburg, died Sunday morning at his residence following a brief illness.

He was born at Willow Island, Pleasants County, a son of the late Edward and Effie Boston Flowers. He was an Army Veteran of World War II and served as a conductor for the B&O railroad, now the CSX Corp., for 37 years. He was a member of the UTU and attended the Stephenson United Methodist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Betty Yost Flowers; two sons, David W. Flowers of Vienna and Gary L. Flowers of Dallas, Texas; a daughter Karen S. Flowers of Parkersburg; two brothers, Bernard E. Flowers of Belpre, and Earl S. Flowers of Parkersburg; a sister, Esther M. Ball of Parkersburg; and three grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother.

Services will be 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at Vaughan Funeral Home in Parkersburg, with the Rev. Albert O. Morrison officiating. Burial will be in the Eastlawn Memorial Park at Marietta.

Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 p.m. Tuesday and until service time Wednesday.
