Ella was 1 of 8 children born to Albert and Lena (Splittgerber) Schierman on a farm in the Long Lake area where she grew up and attended country school. She was baptized and confirmed at St. John's Lutheran Church in Elizabeth. After her schooling she moved to Wahpeton and became a housekeeper in a private home. On Dec. 27, 1939, she married Theodore Nymoen in Elizabeth. The couple moved to Rothsay to farm until 1966, when they moved to Fergus Falls. After the death of her husband in 1980, she continued to live in her home for four years until she moved into the Silver Leaf Apartments, becoming one of the first residents in the building. For the past two years, she has been living in the Pioneer Retirement Community. Ella enjoyed playing any kind of cards, crocheting, fishing and going out to eat. She was a member of First Lutheran Church, the Sons of Norway, a Homemakers Club and while she lived in Rothsay, she was active in the Hamar Church.

Ella & Theodore were the parents of 1 daughter, Ellen.

Ella's siblings include; Albert, William, Clara, Mathilda, Walter, Adolph, & Martha.
