JOHN CYRUS DODSON, was born in Dade County, Mo.,to William Willis Dodson and Mary Blanche (King) Dodson on January 14, 1926, and passed away September 15, 2007. He was raised in Dade Conty, Mo., and graduated from Dadeville High School in 1943.

Following graduation from high school, he enter the U.S. Infantry and served his country in China, Burma and India in World WAr II and also served in Korea during the Korean conflict.

He was a member of American Legion 40/8, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Disabled American Veterans, member of China,
Burma and India Veterans Association and the Veterans Memorial Team

After his discharge from the Army he was employed with Bendix Aviation Association for seven years. He and his wife, Georgia, built a Grade A dairy farm near Walnut Grove, where he was employed until ill health forced his retirement in October of 2006.

He was a member of United Methodist Presbyterian Church in Ash Grove.

John is survived by his wife of 61 years, Georgia Lee Blakemore Dodson and their seven children, John Randall, Pamela, Leo Ann, Nancy, Linda, Terry and Steven; 16 grandchildren; and 12 great Grandchildren. He is also survived by one sister Genora Strange; two brothers, Billy Wayne and Buddy Dodson as well as a host of other good friends and relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Ida Brewer; and one brother, Elwood Dodson.

Funneral services were held on Thursday at 2 p.m. in Wilson-Brim-Daniel Chapel, Ash Grove, with Rev. Jim White officiating. Interment was in the Missouri Veteran's Cemetery, Springfield, on Friday, September 21, 2007.

Friends were allowed to call at their convenience on Wednesday after 3 p.m. in the Ash Grove Chapel. There was no formal family visitation.

The family appreciated the kindness and support of the St. John's Hospice Care Team. Memorial contributions may be made to the United Methodist Church of Ash Grove, St. Jude's Children's Hospital and Research Center or St. John's Hospice Care.
