VICTOR A. ETRE SR., 82
WORCESTER - Victor A. Etre Sr., 82, of 7 Erickson St., owner of an auto-body shop for 45 years, died Wednesday at home after a long illness.
He leaves his wife of 50 years, Virginia (Oliver) Etre; four sons, John Etre of Holden, Leroy and Robert Etre, and Victor "Anthony" Etre Jr. all of Worcester; five daughters, Ann Mattero, Carol Rutkiewicz, DeDee Gleason and Deborah Clark, all of Worcester, and Donna Blaszczyk of Millbury; two brothers, Joseph Etre of Worcester and Albert P. Etre of Shrewsbury; 23 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; nephews and nieces. A son, Charles Etre of Worcester, died in 1975. He was born in Jefferson, son of Simon and Antoinette (Renna) Etre, and lived in Worcester most of his life.
Mr. Etre owned and operated Deluxe Auto Body for more than 45 years, retiring in 1981. He was a member of St. Bernard's Church and a former member of the Friday night Men's Bowling League at Town & Country Bowl in Shrewsbury.
The funeral will be held Monday from Mercadante Funeral Home, 370 Plantation St., with a Mass at 11 a.m. in St. Bernard's Church, 228 Lincoln St. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery. Calling hours are 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Cancer Research, Worcester Foundation for Biomedical Research, 222 Maple Ave., Shrewsbury 01545.
