Wm. "Reed" Barrier
Wm. "Reed" Barrier, age 77, of Jonas Ridge passed away on Sunday May 11, 2008 at Cannon Memorial Hospital.
He was born a son of the late Donald E. and Berkie Reid Barrier.
Reed was a member of Jonas Ridge Baptist Church. He enjoyed fly-fishing, tying flies, being outdoors, picking the guitar and singing with friends. He was also a member of the Ruritan Club. Reed worked for Henredon Furniture. He was also a member of the U.S. Marines.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Marilyn Barrier; a son, Tim Barrier; and a brother, Jerry Barrier.
Left to carry on his memory are his wife, Alvareeta Fox Barrier of the home; sons, Robert Barrier, Greg Barrier and Audie Barrier; daughter, Teresa Holland, all of Jonas Ridge; sisters, Leola Buchanan of Jonas Ridge, Jeanette Pope and husband, Jack, of Morganton; brothers, Boyd Barrier and wife, Jean, of Jonas Ridge; Edward Barrier and wife, Merlie, of Rutherfordton and Dr. James Barrier and wife, Becky, of Summerville, S.C.; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. A host of nieces and nephews also survive.
Interment will follow in the Jonas Ridge Cemetery.
