"MRS DAVID GISH, HIGHLY RESPECTED LADY, SUCCUMBS.
"Following a few weeks' illness Mrs David Gish, highly respected and
well known lady, died at the family home east of the city Thursday
night of last week of _aemia. Funeral services were held at 2:30
o'clock last Saturday afternoon at the residence, conducted by her
pastor, Rev Frank G Coleman, pastor of the local First Brethren
church. Interment was made in Maple Lawn Cemetery.
"Rebecca Jane Flora, daughter of Miles and Malissa Myers Flora,
was born October 22, 1865, at Bringhurst and was at her demise
60 years, 10 months, and 4 days of age. At the age of 7 her
parents moved to the farm east of Flora, now owned by John Flora,
where she spent her girlhood days. On January 9, 1887, she was
united in marriage to David Gish and to this union were born three
children, Roscoe of Bringhurst; Russell of Koro; and Mrs. Flossie
Blue, who passed away November 15, 1914, leaving one son, Earl.
She also leaves five other grandchildren and two brothers, Charley
of near Camden, and Frank Flora, of Covington; and one half-
brother, Medford Flora of this city. She professed her faith in
Christ and united with the First Brethren church of Flora in 1914.
She was a good Christian woman and a loving mother. She had
the care of her three grandsons for a long time, their mother
passing away when they were quite small. She was a faithful
worker in her church and was kind and considerate with everyone.
In her passing one of the saintly women of the community in
which she lived, is no more and she will be greatly missed."
