Author. He is best known for his novels "Warlock" (1958), a Pulitzer Prize nominee, and "The Downhill Racers" (1968). Both were made into Hollywood films. Born in San Diego and raised in Hawaii, Hall was educated at the University of California at Berkeley and later served in the United States Marine Corps during World War II. In 1949 he wrote his first book, "Murder City", and went on with such titles as "So Many Doors" (1951), "The Pleasure Garden" (1966), "Love and War in California" (2007), and the "Ambrose Bierce" series. He also penned mysteries under the pseudonyms O.M. Hall and Jason Manor.
