Professional Football Player. A native of North Carolina, he played at the center position for six seasons (1992 to 1997) in the National Football League with the San Diego Chargers, Carolina Panthers and Oakland Raiders. His career highlights include being a member of the Chargers team which reached Super Bowl XXIX and playing for the Panthers during their debut season of 1995. After playing collegiate football at Clemson University, Whitley was selected by the Chargers in the 5th round of the 1992 NFL Draft and appeared in 72 regular season games during his career.
