Memorial services were held for DeAlda Mae Abdouch, 72, Wagner, on Tuesday, March 2, 1999, at United Methodist Church, Wagner, with Pastor DeAnn Eidem officiating. She died at her home in Wagner on Friday, Feb. 26.
Interment was at ZCBJ Cemetery, Wagner, with Crosby-Jaeger Funeral Home, Wagner, in charge of arrangements.
Active casketbearers were Jeff Fischer, MD, Melissa Fischer, Mike Abdouch, Brent Abdouch, Matt Abdouch, Aaron Abdouch and Seth Fischer her grandchildren. Honorary casketbearers were members of Rebekah Lodge and UMW Rachel Circle.
DeAlda Mae "Dee" Abdouch was born November 29, 1926, at Wagner, the daughter of Dave Harrington and Ida (Whetham) Harrington.
She graduated from Wagner High School in 1945. She then received her teaching degree from Southern Normal in Springfield. Dee taught at the Ed Kindt School for two years.
Dee married Oscar Abdouch on June 17, 1947, at Yankton. She also married the Spot Café at that time, as Dee and Oscar ran the Spot Café in Wagner until their retirement in 1989.
Oscar died March 22, 1997.
Dee was a member of the United Methodist Churc, the Rebekah Lodge and United Methodist Women. She will be remembered for her cooking and her enjoyment of gardening and reading. She was devoted to her daughter and three sons and their families.
Dee is survived by her children: Sherri and husband Lynn Fischer, Wagner; Mike and wife Deb, and Charles and wife Vicki, all of Sioux Falls; and Tom and wife Pat, Wagner; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two brothers: Gerald "Tub" and wife Pat Harrington, Wagner; and Harold and wife Lou Harrington, Fischers, Indiana; one sister, Norman and husband Darold Hawley, Powell, Wyo.; two sisters-in-law: Sharon Harrington, Delmont; and Mildred Abdouch, Wagner; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband; one daughter, Sandra; her parents; and three brothers: Don, Raymond and Gene.

Additional info from Deb: Dee was named DeAldia when she was born. When I questioned her about the change in spelling she told me that yes, DeAldia was the correct spelling of her first name. However people misprounced it so she left out the i making it DeAlda. There was no formal name change.
