Hallard Acord

Hallard E. Acord, 75, of Wood River, died at 8:30 a.m. today, March 18, 1988, at his residence, following a brief illness.

He was a tankerman for Amoco Oil (formerly Standard) for 28 years, retiring in 1975.

Born in Eldorado, he was the son of the late John and Minnie (Wilson) Acord.

He married the former Merle Cross in July 1932, in Alton. She died Jan. 9, 1969.

Surviving are, two daughters, Geraldine Blodgett of Alton and Jeanette Alexander of Mountain Home, Ark. a son, James E. Acord of Willis, Texas; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a brother, Oswald Acord of Wood River and a sister, Retha Wesley of Cottage Hills.

He was preceded in death by a brother Ebert Acord.

Visitation will be 4-9 p.m., Sunday at Elias-Smith Funeral Home in Alton. Rites will be conducted Sunday by IOOF Lodge 1024, where Acord had been a 50-year member.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Burial will be in Upper Alton Cemetery.
