John Jacob Reisner, a son of Christian and Margaret Reisner, was born near Newton, Illinois, on January 1, 1846, and passed away March 16, 1930, at the home of his son, Ira Reisner, in Mattoon, aged 84 years, 2 months, and 15 days. He was united in marriage to Miss Louisiana Yaw on December 9, 1869, and they were the parents of eight children. His wife and one daughter preceded him in death.
He was a kind father and a good neighbor and will be greatly missed. He joined the United Brethan Church at Kern Chapel when a young man. His entire life was spent in Jasper County until the last few years.
Surviving are five sons, Robert A. Reisner of Jewett, George F. Reisner of Hidalgo, Charles L. Reisner of Atwood, Ira M. Reisner of Mattoon, and William A Reisner of Elk City, Oklahoma; two daughters, Mrs. Ida Hall of Hidalgo and Mrs. Florence Johnson of Doxey, Oklahoma; two sisters, Miss Rena Reisner of Indianapolis and Mrs. Eureka Stump of Lake, Mississippi; three brothers, H.M. and E.C. Reisner of Newton and Charles F. Reisner of Lamanda Park, California, eighteen grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services were held at the First Christian Church at Hidalgo, conducted by Rev. J. E. Spencer.
