Caleb was a Captain in the Revolutionary War. He received his commission at Watertown, May 10, 1776. His death was probably due to disease contracted during the war. Caleb married Eunice Root on October 30, 1751 in Hadley, Hampshire, MA.

Caleb and Eunice had four children: John Montague, Eunice Montague, David Montague and Irena Montague.
