Leona M. Barr, 85, formerly of 422 Caroline St., widow of Thomas A. Barr , died Wednesday evening at the United Helpers Nursing Home, where she had been a resident a short time.

A prayer service will be 9:30 a.m. Saturday at McLellan Funeral Home, followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m. in St. Mary's Cathedral. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery.

Surviving are eight sons, three daughters, 44 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; a brother, two sisters, and several nieces and nephews.

Three sisters, Lillian Breen, Beatrice Brenno and Edna Foster, died previously.

She was born Feb. 9, 1906, in Ogdensburg, a daughter of Adolphus and Cora Moroney Kiah. She attended Ogdensburg schools.

She married Thomas A. Barr July 23, 1927, at St. Mary's Cathedral with Monsignor Edmund Brown officiating.

Mr. Barr, a veteran of the National Guard, died Jan. 26, 1969. He was 62.

Mrs. Barr was a member of the Ogdensburg Knights of Columbus ladies' auxiliary and a communicant of St. Mary's Cathedral.
