Edith, oldest daughter (2nd child of 9) of Joel and Sally Kuntzelman of Leaf River, IL, was the mother of oldest daughter Alvernon (Vernie) Kuntzelman. Edith first married widower Frank Thomas 2 May 1906; they had one daughter, the joy of Vernie's life, Thelma Catherine, 26 Sep 1907. After Frank died in 1919, Edith married William R French 16 Oct 1922; William died two years later, Sep 1924, without meeting his infant daughter, Margaret Ellen (Peggy), born 15 Mar 1925. Peggy was the light of both her older sisters' lives.

MRS EDITH FRENCH -- Mrs Edith S French, 62, Forest Hills road, rural route four, died in her home about 4 am today following a long illness.
Born in Leaf River, Ill, Aug 8, 1880, she was the widow of William French, who died in 1925. She had been a Rockford resident for the last 19 years.
Surviving are three daughters, Mrs Alvernon Antrobus, Mrs Thelma Stephenson and Mrs Margaret Rasmussen, all of Rockford; three grandchildren, one great-grandchild; two sisters, Mrs Eva Stenger and Mrs Inez Lutz and two brothers, Leon and Joel Kuntzelman, all of Rockford.
Funeral services will be held at the Fred C Olson mortuary, 1001 2nd avenue, at 1:30 pm Monday, the Rev Dudley Uphoff of Bethany Presbyterian church, Loves Park, officiating, with burial in Cedar Bluff cemetery. Friends may call at the mortuary from 3 to 4 pm Sunday.
