Death: Jun. 5, 2007

Ralph, Kerney to his family, was the oldest of the five children of Ralph and Martha Moores. He graduated from Garfield Sr. High, Hamilton, Ohio, with honors in 1964. He began his undergraduate studies at Eastern Ky. Univ., was an exchange scholar at Heidelberg University and received a B.A. with honors in German (Spanish minor) from the Univ. of Kentucky in 1968. Drafted during the Vietnam conflict Ralph served in the US Army as a linguist.

Ralph received graduate degrees from the University of Central Florida, University of Fla. and Ohio State University. He was fluent in Russian, German, English, and Spanish. His other academic honaries include Phi Beta Kappa (Alpha Ky 1968), Phi Delta Kappa (Orange Co 1982) and Dobro Slovo (OSU 1992).

Ralph taught German at Lake Brantley H.S. in Seminole Co., Fla, where he developed the fifth largest German program in the state of Fla. He had an unquenchable thirst for knowledge and a passion for teaching. Several times a year he would organize and chaperone his students in tours to Europe. He was stricken while on tour with students in Munich, Germany and died June 5, 2007. At the beginning of the 2007-2008 Lake Brantley held a memorial to honor the passing of a highly respected and loved teacher and colleague. He was special.

Kerney was buried next to his father in view of Eastern Ky. University where he began his collegiate studies. My brother was Named Ralph Kerney after his father and Kerney M. Adams who was a history professor at Eastern in the 1930's and 40's.
