Edward Lee Robinson Sr.
August 28, 1912 - May 04, 2006

BAXTER SPRINGS, Kan. Edward L. Robinson Sr., 93, passed away Thursday, May 4, 2006, at St. Johns Regional Medical Center, Joplin, after a short illness.

He was a retired operating engineer.

Edward was born the youngest of six children to Dan and Maggie Robinson on Aug. 28, 1912, in Joplin.

His parents and siblings have preceded him in death.

At a young age his family moved to southeast Kansas, where he remained his entire life.

Edward and Alma Bethel Wallace were married Feb. 17, 1935. Alma preceded him in death Oct. 17, 2002, after 67 years of marriage.

He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Patricia (Robinson) Wyatt; and three grandchildren, Josh, Franz and Tanja Holtwick.

Survivors are son, Edward Robinson Jr.; daughter, Janet (Robinson) Holtwick, of Baxter Springs; seven grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Edward was a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers for over 60 years, working on construction projects throughout the United States including government jobs during World War II and numerous missile projects during the Cold War of the 1950s and 60s.

Edward was very active in the Masonic Lodge of which he was a member for over 50 years in Baxter Springs. He was also a member of the Fort Scott Consistory and the Mirza Shrine, of Pittsburg.

He will be missed dearly by almost a century of family and friends.

Funeral services will be Monday, May 8, at 2:30 p.m. at Derfelts Baxter Chapel, Baxter Springs. Wm Rod Day and Brother Charles Button, of Baxter Lodge No. 71 A.F. & A.M. will officiate.

Interment will be at Lowell Cemetery in Lowell, Kan.

Masonic brothers will serve as pallbearers and Masonic burial rites will be observed.

The family will receive friends Sunday afternoon from 5 until 6 p.m. at the funeral home.
