Wilhelmine Florentine Hilker Neese
Birth: Feb. 22, 1815, Germany
Death: Sep. 21, 1878
Gasconade County
Missouri, USA

Wilhelmine Florentine Hilker was born in Hiddesen, Lippe-Detmold, Prussia. She married Heinrich Neese circa 1835. The family immigrated to America circa 1851 settling in Gasconade County. The Neese and Mellies families of Bay, MO, appear to be related through two Hilker wives although the relationship is not known. It is probable that Florentine (Hilker) Neese was a sister of Charlotte (Hilker) Mellies (1804-1886), Mrs. Charles W. Mellies. This Hilker family relationship is suggested by Mellies family researcher, Truman Mellies.

brother: Frederick Hilker (1813-circa 1882): Find A Grave Memorial# 122584797

The Neese home is an historic site listed in The Arts and Architecture of German Settlements in Missouri: A Survey of a Vanishing Culture by Charles van Ravenswaay.

Mrs. Neese's headstone can also be viewed at St. Paul's Cemetery Assocation homepage:
