Miss Winifred Widener died at the Blair hospital last Friday following an operation for appendicitis on the 21st of November. The funeral was held at the Methodist church in Kennard, the service being conducted by Rev. A. W. Ahrendts of Alvo, her former pastor, assisted by Rev. Wm. Smith, the present pastor. Winifred was born in Cyanide, S.D. May 27th, 1905, and was therefore 17 years of age last May. The family moved to Kennard eleven years ago where she grew to womanhood. She worked in the telephone exchange for a time and was assisting in the post office when she was taken sick. Besides her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Widener, she leaves two sisters, Mrs. Harland French and Dorothy, who lives at home. She was a most lovable and popular girl who will be greatly missed by her parents and many friends.
