Funeral services for Lester H. Sorensen Kennard were held May 9, 1988, at Grace Methodist Church with Rev. Debra Thompsett officiating.
Burial was in the Kennard Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Kenneth Hunter, Leroy Lorsch, Arnold Matzen, Mauri Wright, Monte Wright and Sammy Wright.
Lester was born September 9, 1909, to Peter C. and Amily Anderson Sorensen on a farm west of Kennard.
He spent most of his time in Washington County except for his tour of duty in the Army during World War II.
He was a member of the Kennard Methodist Church, the Kennard American Legion and the Blair VFW.
He is survived by his wife Faye, daughter and son-in-law, Beverly and Dan Nixon, two grandsons, Chad and Cory Nixon, sister May Lund of Nebraska City, and several nieces and nephews, and many relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents, seven brothers, one sister, and a granddaughter, Heidi Jo Nixon.
