AGED BLAIR WOMAN IS DEATH VICTIM

Mrs. William Rutledge, 86, died at Blair hospital Monday evening, Dec. 27. Ill only a short time, she was taken to the local hospital about two weeks prior to her death.

As Catherine Armenia Rosenbaum, she was born in Washington county, Va., April 17, 1857. She was united in marriage to William Rutledge March 16, 1882, and six years later moved to Washington county. Mrs. Rutledge had been a resident of this county ever since. After the death of her husband in 1933, she moved to Kennard, where she was a guest of her niece, Mrs. Ida Pettit.

Survivors include two brothers, William Van Huss of Blair and Samuel Van Huss of Hydro, Okla., besides a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral rites were conducted at 2 o’clock Wednesday afternoon at the Campbell Mortuary in Blair, with the Rev. A. W. Clarke of Arlington, in charge. Interment was in the Kennard cemetery.

Note: Article had her maiden name as Rosenbaum. That was her mother's maiden name.

Note: I believe Sarah Rosenbaum was not Catherine's biological mother. The book Van Hoose, Van Hooser, Van Huss Family in the United States by Joyce Lindstrom, page 730 states that Catherine's father, John M Van Huss first married an unnamed woman, 2 children from this marriage were Cynthia Van Huss, born in 1853; and Catherine Armenia Van Huss, born 17 April 1857 (over 2 years before her father married Sarah Rosenbaum on 15 September 1859) in the Holston District, Washington County, Virginia, she died on 27 December 1843. Catherine was 2 yeas old when her father married Sarah, I believe that her biological mother either died or abandoned the family and that Catherine was raised by her stepmother Sarah, who she most likely sees as her only mother.
