Jeffrey Alan Laughton, 56, of Clay City, died at 12:16 p.m. Saturday, April 26, 2008, at his residence.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday at Clay City Christian Church. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the church with Minister Darrel Brandon officiating. Burial will be in Smith Cemetery in Clay County. Summers-Kistler Funeral Home in Clay City is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Laughton was born June 18, 1951, in Flora, the son of Arthur and Helen Lucille (Harris) Laughton. He married Bea Jay Hills on February 28, 1979. She survives.

He was a farmer and member of Clay City Christian Church and Farm Bureau.

Mr. Laughton is survived by his wife, Bea Jay Laughton, of Clay City; father, Arthur Laughton and his wife, Leona, of Clay City; sons, Aaron Matthew Laughton and Alan Michael Laughton, at home; sisters, Sharon M. Phillips and her husband, Jay, of Clay City, and Shirley Boot, of Brampton, Ontario, Canada; and nieces and nephews, Jason Phillips, Stacey Thacker, Tisha Prins, Shaun Harris and Shana Puckett.

He was preceded in death by his mother; and brother, Donald Evan Laughton.

Memorials may be made to Illini Christian Children's Home in St. Joseph or Oblong Christian Children's Home in Oblong.
