Ness City -- Joseph J. Pfeifer, 100, died Dec. 5, 2003 at Ness County Hospital, Ness City. He was born Nov. 8, 1903 at Victoria, the son of Joe and Barbara Schaeffer Pfeifer.
A resident of Ness County since 1929, he was a farmer. He belonged to Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Ness City.
On Feb. 19, 1924, he married Barbara Billinger at St. Peter. She died June 30, 1931. On Nov. 21, 1933, he married Katherine Billinger at Ness City. She died Oct. 26, 1996.
Survivors include two daughters, Helen Siebenlist, Medford, Ore., and Lorinda Frank, Bazine; a brother, John, Moreland; six grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and 17 great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Marvin J.; four brothers, Frank, Paul, Pete, and Mike; and three sisters, Elizabeth Heisel, Anna Rohleder and Mary Pfeifer.
Parish vigil will be at 8:30 p.m. Monday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Ness City. Funeral Mass will will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the church, with Father Gregory LeBlanc presiding. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday and from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday, both at Fitzgerald Funeral Home, and after 6 p.m. Monday at the church. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Ness City. Memorials may be sent to the church, in care of the funeral home.
