The Parshall family history can be documented to about 1066 in England, arriving in America in the early 1600s.
James Parshall, the Emigrant married Elizabeth Gardiner of East Hampton in 1678. He passed away in South, Suffolk County, N.Y., 15 Sept. 1701. During his marriage to Elizabeth they had six children.
Their second child Israel Parshall was born in March of 1680 in Suffolk County, N.Y. In his 58th year he married Joanna Swezey (1678-1724) on 4, December, 1702.
In 1708 Joanna Parshall-Burt's grandfather Israel Parshall II was born. On 16 November,1732 he married Bethia Case.
On the 7th of October 1736, Joanna's father was born. Israel Parshall III and Ruth Howell (1733-1808) were married in Orange County, N.Y. abt. 1753.
On the sixteenth of February 1754 my 4th great grandmother (Joanna) was born. In 1775 she met and married Benjamin Burt the Third. During their life together they had eight (8) children. The youngest being born in 1801.
Joanna passed away in her 96th year leaving a proud history of her husband and her forefathers, who became American Patriots that prevailed from the birth of our nation through all the military missions in our history protecting our American freedoms.
Fathers, brother and sons of the Parshall and Burt families were ready and able warriors some paying the ultimate price. Mothers, wives and daughters such as Joanna Parshall-Burt protected their homes and children. Always keeping the faith and "the home fires burning".
