KULM, Bernice Arlene (Edgerton)
(Age 92)

Wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, died peacefully April 1, 2008 after fully living life over 90 plus years. She joins her husband Russell who passed away February 10, 2008 and daughter Beverly Jean who passed away April 23, 2007. Bernice was born to Clyde and Edith Edgerton on December 11, 1915 in Shenandoah, Iowa. Raised on a farm, Bernice would tell many childhood stories and loved to write as well. Having gone through The Depression and understanding how to save for a rainy day, she had plenty of things to do that didn't require money or a T.V. for entertainment! Her family moved from Iowa to Idaho between Bernice's junior and senior year of high school. She graduated from Filer high school. She married and had two children, her first born daughter Beverly Jean, and her only son Darrell Lynn. She was a little ball of fire that provided a home for her children and worked two jobs which in the 1940's was quite amazing! In 1955 she married again, this time to her soul-mate Russell Kulm. They immediately picked up everything and moved to Quincy, WA where they farmed for the next 20 years. In 1975 Russ and Bernice moved to Oregon on a new adventure, becoming wheat ranchers in the Pendleton area and having a winter haven in The Tri-Cities, where they met life-long friends and became members of the Tri-Cities Community Church (Now Cathedral of Joy), which they watched blossom to one of the most outreaching churches in the area. She, as time went on would always show that her heart was in The Tri-Cities which held her happiest memories. Mom was a fabulous cook and the family loved to eat at grandma's. She was truly the hostess with the mostess making holidays and get-togethers so very special! She is survived by her son Darrell Kassens (Kate) of Aberdeen; her daughter Terry Dee Neal (Terry Ray) of Spokane; eight grandchildren Scott and Benjy Wolfe of Whitefish MT, Jody (Jolene) Wolfe of Houston, TX, James Kassens of Pullman. Val (Don) Stone of Cosmopolis, WA, Karson (Korin) Neal of Spokane, Collin Neal of Seattle, and Colbi Neal of Spokane; three great-grandchildren Nathan and Amanda Wolfe of Houston TX, and Russell Neal of Spokane. She is also survived by one brother Ralph (Wilda) Edgerton of Nampa, ID, and one sister Wilma (Kieran) Daly of Helen MT. She is preceded in death by her parents Clyde and Edith Edgerton, her brother Arnold Edgerton, her daughter Beverly Jean Wolfe, and her husband Russell Kulm. Visitation for Bernice will be held Friday, April 11, 2008 from 2:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Einan's Funeral Home, 915 Bypass Hwy., Richland, WA 99352. A memorial service will be held Saturday, April 12, 2008 at 11:00 AM, in the Cathedral of Joy Church, Richland, WA. In lieu of flowers the family requests donation may be made in Bernice's honor to Cathedral of Joy, 1153 Gage Blvd., Richland, WA 99352, or Shriner's Hospital,911 W. 5th Ave., Spokane, WA 99204. A special thanks to Harvard Park Home in Spokane and to Mom's private nurse, Linda Ann Johnson. Linda Ann's devotion to her care was truly "Heaven Sent". (Thank you again, Kathy G., for telling us of this Angel!). We miss you, mom, but know that you're now with dad in your heavenly home. We'll see you in heaven, your loving family. Arrangements are under the direction of HAZEN AND JAEGER VALLEY FUNERAL HOME, 1306 N. PINES RD., SPOKANE VALLEY, WA 99206.
