Vaughn E. Daugherty, 80, Anderson, passed away April 24, 2008, at his residence after an extended illness.

He was born May 20, 1927, in Jasonville, Ind., the son of Vaughn and Pearl (Bennett) Daugherty. He graduated from Clinton High School in Clinton, Ind.

He lived in Anderson most all of his life were he retired in the early '80s from Delco Remy after 32 1/2 years. After his retirement, he also worked for several years in the maintenance department of Community Hospital Anderson.

Vaughn served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II. He was a member of the Pendleton First United Methodist Church, Pendleton Masonic Lodge and Scottish Rite Valley of Indianapolis.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Barbara A. (Curry) Daugherty of Anderson; two sons, Vaughn (wife, Julia) Daugherty of Ann Arbor, Mich., and Kevin Daugherty of Greenfield; one granddaughter, Jilliann (husband, Joshua) Short of Lafayette; three sisters, Lucille Turner of Terre Haute, Nelda Nelson of Carmel, Dorothy Lovell of Ormond Beach, Fla.; two brothers, Bill (wife, Becky) Daugherty of Anderson and Dr. Forest (wife, Marsha) Daugherty of Columbus, Ind.; two brother-in-laws, James (wife, Barbara) Dunn of Clinton, and Donald Dunn of Mishawaka; a sister-in-law, Christina Sizelove-Logan and husband Howard Logan of Pendleton; and several nieces and nephews.

Vaughn was preceded in death by his daughter, Loretta Armstrong; and a brother, James Daugherty.
