GEORGE W. FAIRCHILD

George W. Fairchild, 4811 Douglas street, Omaha, died Thursday morning, September 10th at the age of 77 years, 4 months and 27 days. He had been in failing health for the past three years, but death came suddenly which was a shock to his family and friends. Mr. Fairchild was born at Old Washington, Ohio, April 13, 1854. He was graduated from the National Normal University at Lebanon, Ohio where he later taught. Coming to Nebraska in 1884, he became principal of the Blair high school, after which he located on a farm near Kennard, residing there until moving to Omaha in 1916.

He is survived by his wife and nine children: Homer G. of Osmond, Nebr; Ralph E. of Blair; Edgar O. of Kennard; Aubrey M. of Oakland, Calif; Dr. Nora M. Fairchild, Mrs. Chas. P. Nelson, Mrs. L. H. Crapenhoft, all of Omaha, Mrs. Wm. L. Johnsen of Evanston, Ill., and Mrs. M. E. Isaacson of Marquette, Neb. He is also survived by two brothers, John B. of Columbus, Ohio and James B. of New Concord, Ohio, and twelve grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Monday, September 14th at 2 p.m. from the Crosby Mortuary, conducted by the Rev. Howard D. Talbott, pastor of the Dundee Presbyterian church of which Mr. Fairchild was a member, also an elder which office he held until failing health prevented active service.

Burial was in the Kennard cemetery which he helped lay out in 1890.
