Obediah C. Brannon was the son of Willis and Susan (Cato) Brannon. On July 23, 1876 he was married to Sarah Adeline Brown by his brother Allen Monroe Brannon. Obe and Sarah had 8 children, 6 of whom survived to adulthood. They settled in Palarm, Faulkner County, Arkansas but moved to the Red River Valley area of Texas in the early 1880's, finally settling in Le Flore, Oklahoma.

The original headstone was made by son, John Porter Brannon.
The new headstone was purchased by a grandson, Lloyd Brannon.
