Obituary from eckersellfuneralhome.com:
Ren H Kauer, 74, of Rigby Idaho passed away on December 21, 2023 at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center.

He was born on October 11, 1949 in Rexburg Idaho, to Fred and Vera Kauer the 8th of 10 children. He was raised in Burton Idaho and attended Burton Elementary School. He then went into Rexburg for junior high, and high school at Madison until his senior year. For his senior year he transferred to and graduated from Rigby High School. While in school, Ren had a number of odd jobs that he did along with helping on the family farm. He was an Eagle Scout and enjoyed working on cars.

Soon after he finished school, he married his high school sweetheart, Peggy Ann Walker, on June 22, 1968. Not long after their marriage Ren was drafted into the United States Marine Corps, and honorably served his country in the Vietnam War. After returning home he and Peggy started a family of their own. Together they had four children.

Ren worked as a mason for many years. Later, he worked as a security guard for INL for 28 years until he retired.

On August 5, 2015 Ren and Peggy were sealed for time and all eternity in the Rexburg Idaho temple. Together they taught in Primary. This was one of their favorite things because of the great love they had for children. Ren has had other callings in his ward but none that stuck so hard. He is still known today as the "Candy Man" of the Perry Ward. Later, Ren and Peggy served a mission at the Heber Valley Girls Camp.

Ren enjoyed hunting and fishing. While his health held up, he always enjoyed a yearly trek after game. He loved to work on cars which proved helpful for his family as he could practically build one from scratch. Later, he really got into wood working. He used this talent to serve his family and many others by making toys and furniture.

Ren is preceded in death by his wife, Peggy, parents, Fred and Vera, and brothers, Ace H Kauer and Guy H Kauer.
Ren is survived by his children: Blaise Ren (Trina) Kauer of Shelley ID, Keiver Joey (Gary) Hawke of Rigby ID, Tatum Kail (Matt) Bryant of Kimberly ID, Sunde Kristina (Travis) Robertson of Port O'Conner TX; sisters: Luella Rumsey of Egin ID, Linda Fowler of Idaho Falls ID; brothers: Tex H Kauer of Rexburg ID, Dee H Kauer of Arizona, Jay H Kauer of Idaho Falls ID, Tim H Kauer of Oregon, and Con H Kauer. Ren has 16 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for Ren will be held on Wednesday, December 27, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at the Perry LDS Ward Building (285 2nd W Ririe ID 83443). Burial will follow the funeral at the Ririe-Shelton Cemetery.
