Richard Davis was born in Dekalb county, Missouri, and died at Modale, Iowa, July 4, 1923, at the age of 78 years, 6 months and 10 days. He was united in marriage to Susan Little, October 12, 1863, to them were born eleven children, Albert of Sioux City, Ia.; Sam of Atkins, Minn; Belle Ferris of Mondamin, Ia.; Mrs. Kate Wallace, Thomas and William of Modale. He served in the Civil War with the Independent Indian Scouts and was honorably discharged in 1864. He united with the L.D.S. church at Council Bluffs in 1905. Beside the surviving children, there are the mother, many relatives and a host of friends left to mourn his loss. Services were held in the M.E. church, Modale, Friday morning conducted by the pastor, and he was laid to rest in the Calhoun cemetery.
