Married Richard Scruggs Mott on March 10, 1836 in Camden County, Georgia Georgia Marriages 1699-1944. In the 1850 Federal Census of Columbia County, Florida, she was living with her husband and six children. The household included: Richard S. Mott, age 39, a farmer with real property valued at $1600, born in Georgia; Margaret E., age 33, born in Georgia; Alfred A., age 13, born in Georgia; Burton L, age 11, born in Florida; Egenia M., age 9, born in Florida; Isabella M., age 7, born in Florida; Emily A., age 4, born in Florida; and Henryetta, age 2, born in Florida. According to the 1850 Federal Slave Schedule for Columbia County, Florida, her husband owned six slaves: a 27 year old female and a four year old female; a 14 year old male, a ten year old male, a seven year old male, and a two year old male.

In the 1860 Federal Census of Nassau County, Florida, she was living with her husband and eight children. The household included: Richard Mott, age 49, born in Georgia, $2000 real property and $7000 personal; Margaret, age 43, born in Georgia; Burton, age 22, born in Florida, a farm laborer with $150 in personal property; Isabella, age 17, born in Florida; Emilie, age 15, born in Florida; Henrietta, age 13, born in Florida; Richard, age 12, born in Florida; Joseph, age 9, born in Florida; Thomas, age 7, born in Florida; and William, age 3, born in Florida. Her husband owned eight slaves: a female, age 40; a female, age 12;, a female, age 3; a male, age 24; a male, age 18; a male, age 14; a male, age 9; and a male, age 6.

Richard enlisted in the Army of the Confederacy at Lake City, Florida on August 14, 1862. He enlisted as a private in Company B, 2nd Battalion, Infantry, Florida Regiment. He was mustered out on May 1, 1863. Biographical Roster of Florida's Soldiers 1861-1865.

In the 1870 Federal Census of Baker County, Florida, she was living with her husband and children. The household included: R. S. Mott, age 70, a farmer with $1000 real property and $500 personal property, born in Georgia; Margreat, age 65, born in Georgia; Richard, age 20, born in Florida; Joseph, age 17, born in Florida; William, age 14, born in Florida; and Lacy, age 9, a waiter, born in Florida.
