He was preceded in death by his parents, Darwin and Jewell Fox; and a son, James Edward Jr. "Ted."
Jim began a successful career in the insurance industry in 1964 and had six companies with the latest being The Tactical Group which he was President and CEO. Jim served honorably in the U.S. Army in Vietnam and earned his degree from Rockhurst University. He was a charter life underwriter, member of the Self-Insurance Institute of America and Society of Professional Benefit Administrators.
He served as president of the board of directors for the Heart of America Shakespeare Festival, The New Theatre Guild, the Kansas City Art Institute and the Kemper Museum of Contemporary Art. Jim was an ardent conservative Republican and was a columnist for the Missouri Grapevine as well as a popular guest speaker. Jim was a true gentleman in every sense of the word and was proud to call himself a Christian.
As an organ and tissue donor those in need of healing will benefit. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 23, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Floral Hills Funeral Home, 7000 Blue Ridge Blvd., Raytown, MO 64133. Services will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, April 24, at St. Peter's Episcopal Church, 100 E. Red Bridge Rd., Kansas City, MO 64114. Interment at Floral Hills Cemetery, 7000 Blue Ridge Blvd., Raytown. Memorial contributions may be made to the Heart of America Shakespeare Festival or the New Theatre Guild Scholarship Fund.
