Warren Woodrow Hansel was born January 1, 1913, in rural Mallory Township in Clayton County, Iowa, the son of Otto and Elsie Grace (Palmer) Hansel. He was raised in the area and graduated from Elkport High School in 1931.
On August 28, 1933, Warren was united in marriage to Helene Culbertson in Elkport. They farmed in the Wood Center area and after retirement remained on the farm for a number of years, before moving to Edgewood. Helene died on May 15, 2005.
Warren passed away on Sunday, April 20, 2008, at the Guttenberg Care Center in Guttenberg following a brief illness. He was ninety-five years of age. Warren enjoyed fishing and coon hunting. He was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church for fifty-two years, was a member of the Edgewood Cemetery Association, and a Farm Bureau Member.
Survivors include his two sons, Cletus (Penny) Hansel of Guttenberg and Terry (Connie) Hansel of Central City; his three grandchildren, Steven (Barbara) Hansel of Guttenberg, David (Brenda) Hansel of Hills, Minnesota, and Jeffrey Hansel of Rochester, Minnesota; seven great-grandchildren, Warren Scott Hansel of Hills, Minnesota, Becky Hansel of Waterloo, Whitney Hansel of Dubuque, Kelsey Hansel of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Caleb Hansel of Hills, Minnesota, McKenna Hansel of Guttenberg, and Heather Hansel of Hills, Minnesota; one great-great grandson, Ronan O'Brien; and one sister-in-law, Margaret Hansel of Edgewood.
Warren was preceded in death by his wife, Helene; his parents; and one brother, Ishmael.
