|Birth: ||Mar. 5, 1837|
|Death: ||Jul. 23, 1916|
Sarah was the daughter of Jacob Hyder and Jenny Ann Whitaker. She first married James Elliott and had one child with him, Anna Elizabeth, before he died about 1858. She then married Thomas Pounds, with whom she had two children: Amanda J. Pounds (who married William Brandt) and George Benjamin Pounds.
Of her husband Thomas Pounds (born OH 1839), the date and place of death are unknown. He last appeared on the census in 1900 in DeKalb Co. MO. In 1907 he mailed a postcard from a rural route NW of Chandler, Lincoln Co., OK. All that is known for sure is that he does not appear in any 1910 census.
Thomas's daughter-in-law Celia Olson Pounds (d. 1906) is buried in Pollick (aka Dewey) Cemetery in Lincoln Co. OK but without a marker. Pollick would have been the closest cemetery to the address Thomas mailed the postcard from.
In the Civil War Thomas served with Company H of the 108th Illinois Volunteers and later with Company C of the 87th Enrolled Missouri Militia.
