Mrs. Pelan maiden name "Irby" came of an English people who's patriotism and worth was much appreciated. Her great grand-father was a Colonel in the revolutionary war and her grandfather on father's side a Captain in the same. She herself was patriotic and loved to dwell upon past history which she was familiar with. owning one of the finest libraries to be found in any country home.
She leaves three sons to mourn the loss who are men of staunch worth and merit: William Samuel Atkinson Sr., J. L. and Al Atkinson. The funeral services were conducted by her pastor, Rev. Graves and was attended by a large concourse of friends, who have admired her through the years.
