Okolonan's Father Buried Monday
Houston—M A Carter, who resided at Van Vleet most of his life, died at 2:15 Sunday at Houston Hospital after suffering a heart attack four days ago. He was 83.
Services were held at 3 p, Monday in Friendship Presbyterian Church, of which he was a member, with the Rev. R F Clayman and the Rev. W D Smith officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery with Norman Funeral Home in charge.
Mr. Carter resided at Van Vleet until moving to Houston six years ago to make his home with his daughter, Mrs. Dan Thomas.
He leaves another daughter, Mrs. M G Ashby of Houston; three sons, Edward Carter of Kosciusko, Hugh T Carter of Okolona and Col. M A Carter Jr., of the Air Force, stationed at Lima, Peru; two brothers, J O Carter of Van Vleet and L C Carter of Ft Worth, Texas two sisters, Mrs. C H Newman of Knoxville, Tenn., and Mrs. Gene Smith of Washington, D C; 10 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
