A native of Hardin County, she was a retired elementary school teacher for Hardin County Schools and a member of Severns Valley Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Ruby Wilson Duggins, her husband, James M. Best Sr., one son, James M. "Buzzy" Best, and one granddaughter, Deborah Kay Best.
Survivors include one son, Robert Best of Elizabethtown; two daughters, Bettye Venne of Columbus, Ohio, and Beverly Best of Houston; one brother, Robert Duggins of Elizabethtown; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
A graveside service was held at Hardin Memorial Park.
