Herbert Lee Chrisjohn, 62, Wellsville, Kansas, passed away January 22, 1997, at Olathe Medical Center.
Funeral services will be 12 noon Saturday, January 25, at the Bruce Funeral Home, Gardner, Kansas; burial in Gardner Cemetery.
Friends may call 6:30-8:30 p.m. Friday, January 24, at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association or the KU Eye Bank.
Mr. Chrisjohn was born March 2, 1934, in Osawatomie, Kansas, and lived in Olathe for many years. He moved to Wellsville, Kansas, nine years ago. He graduated from Herington High School in Herington, KS, and attended Ottawa University, Ottawa, KS.
On January 3, 1954, he married Ruth Anna Blagg, in Atchison, Kansas. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1953-1964. He was a Transportation Engineer for Acme Brick of Olathe, Kansas, for 10 years. He was a member of the First Christian Church of Olathe and Teamsters Local 41, Kansas City, MO. Mr. Chrisjohn was active in and coached Babe Ruth Baseball and Pop Warner Football. He was President of the Olathe Booster Club, 1975-1977. He showed award winning Parade Ponies. He enjoyed woodwork and making cedar chests for family members.
Mr. Chrisjohn was preceded in death by his parents, Eugene Scott and Elfie Opal Brown Chrisjohn; and his brother, Walter Eugene Chrisjohn, in 1991. He is survived by his wife, Ruth Anna Chrisjohn, of the home; son, David B. Chrisjohn, Spring Hill, Kansas; daughters, Susan G. Crist, Gardner, Kansas, and Deborah L.
