Gladys Abney Herron Completed life's journey and answered God's call on Friday, Feb. 29, 2008, Gladys Abney Herron, age 89, of Aiken, widow of the late Wyman "Bunk" Herron and daughter of the late Leslie Abney and the late Mattie Harris Abney. She is survived by three daughters, Margie Herron of Aiken, Sandra (Rick) Walsh of Woodstock, Ga., and Jan-ice Herron of Columbia; four grandchildren, Major Douglas (Lisa) Keller, John Keller, Brian (Sandy) Walsh and Erika Walsh; four, great-grandchildren, Emily, Megan and Lauren Keller and Austin Edwards. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Pat Keller, a sister and three brothers. She was born in and was a lifelong resident of Aiken County. She was a beloved mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend to countless people. She spent her working years at Graniteville Company before retiring to do what she loved most, which was to work in her yard among her daffodils and crape myrtles. She will be truly missed by her family and friends, but there is a consolation in knowing that she is in a better place; Earth's loss is Heaven's gain. The funeral service will be conducted Monday, March 3, 2008, at 2 p.m. in the Chapel of Napier Funeral Home with Rev. Bobby Grover officiating. The interment will follow at Aiken Memorial Park in Aiken. The pallbearers will be Benny Abney, David Abney, John Keller, Bill Miskey, Clay Towns and Brian Walsh. The family will receive friends this Sunday, March 2 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Napier Funeral Home, 315 Main St., Graniteville.
