Casper Carter

Casper Carter, 85, died Saturday, Apr. 5, 2008 at his home after a long illness. Carter was born July 22, 1922 to the late Lovette and Sula Walker Carter in Appling County and had resided here all of his life. He was a self employed farmer and a member of Altamaha Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Ruby Beasley and Vera Manning.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy J. Carter of Baxley; two sons and daughters-in-law, Dwayne Johnson of Baxley and Calvin Edward and Jennifer Peace of Baxley; brother and sister-in-law, Elton and Donna Carter of Baxley; four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, Apr. 8 at David E. Miles Funeral Home Chapel with Charles Hutcheson officiating.

Interment followed in Altamaha Baptist Church Cemetery.

Active pallbearers were Byron Carter, Michael Todd, Ernie Manning, John Payton, Charlie Williams and Michael Butler.

Honorary pallbearers were Craig Stone, Ron Tillman, Timothy Johnson, Kenny Johnson, Bonnie Johnson, Freddy Butler, Lynn Butler, Neil Lewis, Julie Lewis, Carol Williams, Anita Payton, Missy Butler, Gail Johnson, Deb Tillman, Joe Daxter, Charlene Daxter, Sissy Shefield, Nancy Shefield, Rosia Brown, Geneva Lann, Sheila Bohannon, Mary Ann Foster and all in attendance.
