Roberta "Bunny" Gambill (Miller) age 71, passed July 4th, 2013 in Jonesboro, AR. She was in her home, surrounded by her family. Bunny fought a courageous battle with small cell lung cancer and entered into the glory of God's Kingdom.
Bunny was born October 15, 1941 to Robert and Carma (Evers) Miller in Adrian, Michigan.
On November 23, 1957 she married Kenneth O. Gambill, and he survives. She was immeasurably proud of her long and loving marriage.
At age 15 Bunny dropped out of school to care for her two younger sisters and ailing father so that her mother could work out of the home.
Shortly after her marriage she completed her schooling through Adult Education, completing 2 years of high school in 19 weeks. Bunny and Ken soon started their family. With two small children in their home, she expressed her wishes to Ken that she would like to go to college. Bunny attended Adrian College and earned her Bachelors in Elementary Education in the short span of 2 ½ years. She began teaching at Madison School, and then continued her education at Eastern University, earning her Masters Degree + 30 hours.
She had a deep love for children and team taught first grade with her dear friend Bernadine Klump for 32 ½ years. She was always involved in children's ministry at Adrian First Church of the Nazarene and after retirement at Forest Home Church of the Nazarene in Jonesboro, Ark.
Bunny was preceded in death by her parents, step-father Elmer Kunkle, and two sisters, Bonnie Miller and Virginia Lee (MC) Cox. Those that will miss her dearly include one sister, Wanda Kay Ream of Morenci, Michigan. Three daughter, Karen Jeri (James) Alverson, Krystal Rae (Robert) Schamberger, both of Adrian, Michigan and Kara Renee Ross of Jonesboro, Arkansas.
She was also a proud, loving grandma to Tyler Wonderly, Kiley Wonderly, Jacob Schamberger, Luke Schamberger, Kaitlyn Ross and Kelcie Ross. Special friends include Scott, Mendy, Landon, Lia and Lila Hendrix.
Bunny was a wonderful, caring and talented individual. Her works were many and her love was strong. Words cannot express the depth of love and the burden she had for all children. She shared love of Christ every day through her Christian example.
A celebration of her life will be 2:00 pm, Sunday, July 7, 2013 at Forest Home Church of the Nazarene with Rev. Ken Stallings officiating. A fellowship meal will be served at the church at 12:30 pm. Burial will follow at Shiloh Cemetery under the direction of Gregg Langford-Bookout Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 6:00 until 8:00 pm, Saturday, July 6, 2013 at Gregg-Langford Bookout Funeral Home, 300 W. Matthews Ave.
Honored to serve as pallbearers are Donald Mayes, Ryan Gambill, Jim Alverson, Robert Schamberger, Bruce Beck and Randy Watson and as honorary pallbearers, the Fellowship Class at Forest Home Church of the Nazarene and Scott Hendrix .
In Lieu of flowers please consider a donation to Dierksen Memorial Hospice or the children's ministry at Forest Home Nazarene Church.
