5. OBITUARY, THE WEISER AMERICAN 2/5/1925
FRANCIS T. HOPKINS DEAD: Following an operation to relieve an internal trouble which had confined him to his home for about two weeks, Francis died Thursday afternoon, Feb. 3rd at the Morehead Hospital in Weiser.
Frank Hopkins belonged to the later group of pioneer settlers who came here when the permanent growth of the community had begun and had taken part in that development. The immediate reason for his coming was to help his brother Albert J. Hopkins in the construction of the Washington county court house for which the latter had the contract.
In his later years, the deceased was caretaker of the East Side grade school and there among teachers and pupils he will be mourned and missed almost as by the members of his family.
Francis Theodore Hopkins was born July 25, 1849, at Greenwich, Ohio and was married to Josephine E. Higgins, who survives him, Jan. 15, 1880. There are also three daughters, Mrs. Ann Coulter, of New Plymouth; Mrs. Caroline Miller, of Rexburg; and Mrs. Hazel Hinckley, of Seattle. He also leaves his brother, Albert J. Hopkins, who came from Ohio to Idaho in 1889, and three brothers and one sister at the old Ohio home.
Funeral service will be held Friday at 2:30 p.m. from Northam & McCann Chapel with Rev. W. W. Deal officiating, a former Weiser pastor and friend of the family.
