While Hunting Rabbits Last Sunday on East Cherry Creek....
Ellis M. Smith, aged about 14 years, accidentally shot and killed himself Sunday afternoon about 1:30, while hunting rabbits. He was carrying a double barreled shotgun, when in some unaccountable manner the gun was discharged, blowing off the top of his head, scattering the brains on the ground about him. The boy was a son of George Smith who lives on East Cherry creek, about 25 miles from Castle Rock, and was accompanied on the hunting expedition by N. B. and James Alderman.
