Jane Panting Bell was born 7 May 1855 at Apperley, England to Frederick and Elizabeth Crook Panting. In May 1856 Elizabeth and her two child, Christopher 5 and Jane 1 left England and sailed for America. They crossed the Plains in the Willie Handcart Company.
Jane married Charles Morris Bell on 11 Dec 1873 at Logan, Utah. They made their home at Franklin, Logan, Oxford and Weston prior to settling at Lava Hot Springs, Idaho. They had 13 children: Charles, Pleasant, Adelbert, Mary, Willard, Elizabeth, Orrin, Earl, Emma, Annetta, Jennie, Marvin & Wilford.
