She married Dorman Christianus in 1937 and moved to Corpus Christi a few years later. Above all, she was a Christian in the truest sense of the word-and the best mother, wife, grandmother, friend, listener and keeper of secrets-always there for anyone who needed her. She constantly put the needs of others above her own. Her character was marked by a servant heart and a gentle spirit. She served as church deaconess, Sunday school teacher, church card secretary, room mother, family service volunteer, election judge, and gardener. She won Yard of the Month back in the 1980's. She was her happiest with her hands in soil. She was famous for baking and giving sand tarts every year at Christmas time. It is estimated that she made 6000 dozen in the course of her life.
Kay was preceded in death by her husband, her son, Michael Christianus, her grandson, Gary Glaze and her siblings. She is survived by daughters, Judy Glaze (Bert) of Cypress, Texas and Patty Milam (Gary) of Argyle, Texas; son, Thomas Christianus of Corpus Christi; daughter-in-law, Peggy Christianus; grandchildren, Charles and John Glaze (Lisa), Amber Christianus, Kim Taylor (Ricky), Neil Milam, Kelly Copeland (Kevin), Aaron Milam, and great-grandchildren, Chris, Lauren and Caroline Glaze, Brienna and Matthew Milam, Coleman Taylor, and Bradley and Bailey May.
